We support bilingual education.

In music, the children sing songs and move their bodies. Sometimes, the Early Advantage children join the older children and have a joint singing session. Some children like to request songs while others like to stand up and perform in front of the group. Because our theme in April was “Spring”, the children most frequently requested the "Five Little Speckled Frogs". Through songs, the kids are quickly learning names of parts of the body, the alphabet, colors, numbers and even names of continents!

In Story time, the children are reading theme-based books as well as old favorites. Currently, the children frequently ask for "There's a Mouse about the House", books from the Clifford the Big Red Dog series and "The Lion and the Mouse". The children (often girls) ask for stories about cute animals. All the kids love listening to these stories and give all their full attention to while listening. Since the kids are familiar with some of the stories, they will anticipate what will happen next and let their friends know. They are also able to give comments in English, for example "Clifford is cute" and "I like the mouse".

As part of our routine in each class, we always work on the alphabet (phonics), shapes, colors, numbers, weather and the calendar. I hope you now have an idea of what we did in April in the Early Advantage class.

風薫る季節を迎え、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？ GKAの子どもたちはますます元気に、そして楽しくプログラムに参加しています。
さて、日ごろから子どもたちはGKAでのことを保護者の皆様とよく話していることと思います。それに加え,私の方からも定期的にその内容と子どもたちの様子をフィードバックしていきたいと考えています。

4月のテーマは「春」。春になるとたくさんの命が生まれます。

クラフトでは、桜の木、蛙とてんとう虫のライフサイクル、そしてたくさんの花を作りました(出席した日のよってその内容は変わります)。子どもたちは、クラフトが大好きです。同じテーマでも出来上がりは子どもたちによって様々。毎回それぞれ作品のどこがすばらしいか発表しあっています。

音楽の時間では歌を歌ったり、体を動かしたりしています。時には大きいクラスの子どもたちに混じって歌を歌います。一人ずつ歌をリクエストしたり、みんなの前で一人で歌を歌ってみたりすることも・・・。テーマが「春」ということでfrog songを教えると、それがみんなに大人気。4月一番リクエストが多かった歌です。また歌を通して、体の部分の名前やABCs、色や数なども学んでいます。

Story Timeでは、四季を盛り込んだお話に加え、”There’s a Mouse about the House”、”Clifford series”、”The Lion and the Mouse”などが子どもたちに人気です。女の子がクラスに多いということもあり、可愛い動物たちが出てくるストーリーのリクエストをよく受けます。みんなお話が大好きで毎回食い入るように見入っています。何回か読んだ本に関しては、話の先を予想してみんなに知らせる子もいます。また、読んだ本のどこが好きだったかという問いには、”Clifford is cute.””I like the mouse.”など、少しずつ自分の口で感想を述べられるようになった子もいます。

その他、アルファベット、形、色、数、天気、カレンダーなどにも出来る限り毎回触れるようにしています。
