Children's Castle and Hawaiian Art Gallery

By Sarah

This week’s field trip was a combination of play at Children’s Castle, and art viewing at a private gallery in Aoyama. We arrived at Children’s Castle at around ten in the morning, just before the rain clouds moved in.

As the rain poured down outdoors, the children inside, full of energy, amused themselves with the indoor playground, arts and crafts, hide and seek, and house (おままごと). After a couple hours of fun filled activity, we left Children’s Castle and walked to a nearby private gallery, where Ms. Kotono Koshino was showing her Hawaii inspired paintings. The exhibition also featured Ms. Koshino’s mother’s photography.

The children were extremely well behaved, and complimented Ms. Koshino on her beautiful art work several times. The Koshino’s were in return delighted to have us all as guests, and interacted with many of the students. The field trip was yet another success, as the children seemed to really appreciate the warmth and beauty of the paintings and photos of Hawaii. It seems appropriate to end with this comment from our youngest student participating this week.

“I like these pictures so much. They are just so beautiful!”
