Yale University's A Cappella Group Whim'n Rhythm to perform on opening night of French Artist Darius' Art Exhibition
As announced before, we at GKA are striving to bring more art and music to the children and families of GKA to enable more hands-on learning of the different cultures that make up the world we live in.
Whim'n Rhythm, the all female a cappella group from Yale University is coming to Global Kids Academy on June 13th! Whim'n Rhythm has performed for audiences all over the world from Maine to Hong Kong and Club Med to the White House. On June 13th, the fourteen members who just graduated from Yale will stop by at the beginning of their World Tour. They will first talk with and teach some of our students. Later, doors will open to the public and they will give a concert.
After the show, please stay to enjoy the paintings by French artist Darius in our Rooftop Gallery. The art of Darius will be on display from June 13-16. Darius’ mother was a protégé of Marc Chagall and from an early age, Darius was surrounded by leading artists of the time, including Chagall and Picasso. Taking the colors and sights of Corsica as inspiration, Darius creates beautiful dream-like oil paintings. Darius’ art has been on display at places such as Fond National d’Arc Contemporain, Paris and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. Thanks to the cooperation of Eri Ogawa, our senior Japanese teacher and sister-in-law of Darius, we have access to the very important artwork by Darius.
The evening will flow as follows:
16:30 Regular GKA Wednesday students will be treated to a special session with Whim'n Rhythm. Since this is a very special opportunity, we encourage other (non-Wednesday) students to join. For those students, the admission fee below applies.
17:30 Doors open to public. Admission fee is Yen 2000 for adults and Yen 1000 for children.
18:30 Please join us in the Rooftop Gallery for wine and cheese and other refreshments and enjoy the art of Darius. Children under 10 must be accompanied by adults for this portion of the evening.
The art of Darius will continue to be on display in our Rooftop Gallery through June 16 and viewing may be arranged by appointment.

ダリウス展 ６／１３−１６
移転のときにもお知らせしましたが、GKAビルのスペースをフルに活用して、子供も大人も楽しめるアートや音楽のイベントを開催していきたいと思います。その第一弾として、６月１３日よりアートと音楽のイベントを行います。イエール大学アカペラグループ、Whim’n Rhythmをお招きして子供たちに歌を教えてもらい、後でコンサートを行います。ルーフトップギャラリーでは、６月１３日から１６日までフランス画家ダリウス氏の展示会を開催します。
Whim’n Rhythm は先日卒業したばかりの女子１４名のアカペラグループです。メイン洲から香港、クラブメッドからホワイトハウスまで幅広く活動しているグループです。卒業記念の世界ツアーの途中でグローバルキッズアカデミーに立ち寄ってくれます。
Dariusダリウス氏は著名な芸術家に囲まれて育ちました。お母様はマルク・シャガールのお弟子さんであり、ダリウス氏自身も生前のシャガールと交流があり彼の絵に魅了されながら育ってきました。コルシカ島の美しい色彩をインスピレーションにした作品は、フランスの国立現代美術館やポンピドーセンターなどでも展示されてきました。今回、義理の妹さんにあたるGKA日本語教師、小川先生のご協力でGKAにて展示することができます。
６月１３日のスケジュールは次のようになります。
１６：３０−１８：３０ Whim’n Rhythmが到着。毎週水曜日に参加している生徒との交流の時間。素晴しい機会なので他の曜日のお子さんも是非参加してください。スペースに限りがあるので、早めにご予約ください。水曜日の生徒の参加は無料、その他の生徒はコンサートの参加費を持参してください。
１７：３０ 一般公開。参加費は大人２０００円、子供１０００円。
１８：３０ ルーフトップギャラリーにてダリウス氏の絵画展オープニングレセプション。ワインとチーズ、軽いスナックなどを召し上がりながら、お楽しみください。この時間帯お子さんは保護者の同伴が必要です。
イベントの後も６月１６日までダリウス展が続きますので、ご興味のある方はご予約ください。
