Japanese Immersion Summer Program 2008
This year, we are extending the Japanese Immersion program and offering it throughout the summer, from June 16 to August 29. Whether the objective is to learn ab initio, catch-up or review, we are ready to meet the needs of students. Our immersion program exposes the students to many fun cultural activities.
Academics, adventures, art and activities are available throughout the day. There will normally be two hours of classroom time where children will focus on reading, writing and speaking skills. For the rest of the day, they are immersed in social or cultural activities. There will be time to interract with native Japanese speakers playing games like Hanaichi Monme, Kagome and Karuta. Cultural activities like Japanese calligraphy and Kyoketsuzome (paper dyeing technique) are introduced. Students in both Japanese and English immersion participate in Adventure in Tokyo. In the past, students have taken cultural field trips to: an authentic Urasenke tea house for tea ceremony, Ghibli Museum to study Japanese animation, a rooftop rice paddy in Roppongi Hills along with a tour of the Toho Cinemas movie theatre, the Edo Museum and much more.
